“Higher” is a heartfelt piece that we feel very much connected to.

The song describes two outer edges, from deep darkness and desperation to the light of hope. The vocals carry a genuine nerve telling the story of hardship and friendship through difficult times.

While working on the tune, Icescape wanted to use the soundscape to convey both darkness and chaos, beauty and hope, to add another dimension to the lyrics. By combining the delicate guitar work and folk vocals of Piga, with the electronic ambiance from the sonic world of Icescape the song turned out both organic and otherworldly simultaneously. While dark in nature it ultimately offers encouragement, hope, and warmth.

Hope is also represented in the cover design, with the flower opening up and reaching out into the world. Our wish is that the tune can be like a warm, comforting blanket, bringing hope and encouragement to those listening.

Piga is a singer-songwriter located in Stavanger, southwestern Norway. Her unique musical tone is a fusion of melancholy folk vocals with ambient and reflective melodies. The artist made her mark in 2019 with the single “You” which got recognition on the Norwegian radio channel NRK P3.

Icescape is an electronic music producer and composer based on the southern coast of Norway. His music moves in waves between genres like pop, film and electronica, creating a wide sound palette of intriguing electronic rhythms, intriguing textures and dreamy, lush landscapes. His debut single was released in 2020 and featured the well-known EDM topliner AWR.

On February 26th they’ll release new music together, marking a new path for both of the upcoming artists.
